Stay on a Budget Closest to the Wharf

One of my favorite places to stay in San Francisco when I'm on a budget is The Wharf Inn, a Best Western hotel. It's the closest to the bay wharf and Pier 39. It's not as cheap as it used to be, and the wharf is more expensive than downtown San Francisco. Called an inn, It's an older style motel building, but the rooms are comfortable, the elevators and stairs require security code and the parking is free (otherwise you might spend $30 a day for parking if you have a car). The front facing rooms have balconies, though you may not need need an alarm clock to get up in the morning, the seals will do that for you (and sometimes the tour buses). Get up and take a walk over to Pier 39 for breakfast at the wonderful Eagle Cafe, then take a walk along the wharf to watch as the crab vendors begin to stoke up the boilers and lay out the day's fish. This is what you came to the city by the bay for, isn't it?

The Wharf Inn is right next to the Sheraton and the Radisson, located at the end of Mason at Bay Street, in the heart of romantic Fisherman's Wharf (see San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf) and has been named "Best Value in Fisherman's Wharf " for at least five years running in Frommer's San Francisco Guide. The area at night can get a little "colorful" as only San Francisco can, but the Wharf Inn offers all the excitement and beauty that has made this city everyone's favorite at a bargain hunters rate. © Bargain Travel West
